So, with a headline like that above perhaps you might imagine that I, a conservative, will launch into another attack on a Republican that just isn’t Republicany enough for me, right? You might think that this will be just another hard-line blogger attacking another “moderate” Republican, right? Well, by “fake Republican” I mean just that: fake.
Putting fake candidates on the ballot is a game that Chicago Democrats play in every election. Every election they put fake Republicans up against real Republicans in primary elections. What the Democrat Party does is put several shill candidates on ballots to drain votes from the real Republican candidate and to confuse voters. Sometimes Democrats even float fake Democrat opponents in order to make sure a particular Democrat wins by splitting away dissident votes to shill candidates.
Kristen McQueary of the Southtown Star has a perfect example of this sort of fake Republican appearing on a ballot in the 37th State Rep District. In this District Representative Kevin McCarthy is suddenly facing a mysterious candidate that no one in the Orland Park/Tinley Park, area (Southern Cook County) seems to know. In fact, this opponent didn’t even personally campaign for her spot on the ballot.
McCarthy had no idea that he was to have an opponent for his seat until the filings came. And once that revelation came and a little investigating was done it turns out that most of the signatures that ended up putting Mallory McAvoy Flynn on the ballot didn’t even come from the district in which she is a sudden Republican candidate. On top of that she doesn’t have a Republican voting history. She does, however, have a history of pulling a Democrat ballot.
So where did all the folks that signed her nominating petitions come from? Shock of shocks they came from the Democratic stronghold of Chicago’s 13th and 23rd Wards. And who holds sway over that area of the city? Why none other than Democratic Speaker of the House Michael Madigan.
As McQueary notes in her piece, it isn’t illegal to put up a fake Republican on a primary ballot but it is wholly unethical. Yet it happens in every single election. Fake opponents and shill candidates suddenly come out of the woodwork at primary time following the orders of the Democrat masters in order to fool voters and muck up the process. It is cynical, undemocratic, and shows how little Democrats respect either you or our American democratic process.
