Rev. Hayes Facing Down Jesse Jackson, Jr. in Ill 2

-By Warner Todd Huston

Republican Congressional candidate Reverend Isaac Hayes wants to be your 2nd District Representative. But to do that he has to defeat Jesse Jackson, Jr. and a gaggle of Greenies first. And he’s taking Jackson head on.

Hayes, for instance, has signed the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge” from Americans for Tax Reform pledging not to vote to raise taxes should he win office. He challenges Jackson to “renounce the unsustainable, statist spending plans of Speaker Pelosi and to pledge to not raise taxes.” But it isn’t just taxes Hayes is slamming Jackson for.

On Jackson’s vote for the Obamacare bill in the House, Hayes points out that on WVON radio, Jesse Jackson’s own sister, Santita Jackson, said she was “wary” of the 2,000 page healthcare bill. To Santita’s wariness Hayes says, “Mr. Jackson should listen to his big sister because it is apparent he is not listening to other hardworking Americans.”

“The Constitution was 10 pages long, but Speaker Pelosi’s pet project comes in at about 2000 pages. What is wrong with this picture? The Congress could make some common sense reforms, insure those who lack insurance, and want it, and do it on one page of paper. It’s called health care tax credits. And it’s simple.”

Hayes says that the healthcare vote is a burden on the middle class and small businesses and he invokes the memory of Thomas Jefferson, “I would have him read the words of Thomas Jefferson, one of those founders, who said: ‘I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.'”

Hayes has also lambasted Jesse Jackson for his vote to resume funding for the criminal organization ACORN.

“Jesse Junior voted to continue to fund them then, and he will continue to support a future waste of your money and support future illegal activity by that organization.”

The 2nd District comprises the towns of Harvey, Lansing, Chicago Heights, Park Forest and part of Calumet City all of which are well south east of Chicago and on the Indiana border. The 2nd is also spread across parts of both Cook and Will Counties.

Hayes is a native of Chicago’s South Side and earned a degree in Information Systems at Ill. State University. Hayes was vice president of ABN AMRO Mortgage and now ministers full-time to youth at the Apostolic Church of God in his community.
