Lying Leftists Organize Anti-Breitbart Blacklist to Scare Advertisers… And So Far It’s Working

-By Warner Todd Huston

A group of hateful lefties who are hiding behind anonymous Twitter names have organized a boycott of advertisers whose ads have been appearing regularly on Breitbart News. Unfortunately, the boycott is working causing at least 47 of these companies to flee the conservative powerhouse.

The small group of liberals organizing the boycott is going by the name “Sleeping Giants,” and is using the racist black power fist symbol as a logo for their effort.

This group of anonymous attackers are calling Breitbart.com a “racist” website and forcing fearful advertisers to dump Breitbart as an advertising platform (disclosure, I have written for Breitbart for nearly a decade and personally knew the site’s founder, Andrew Breitbart who passed away in 2012).

Of course, the whole premise is a lie. There isn’t anything remotely “racist” about Breitbart.com except in the false claims of extreme leftists in whose fevered imagination literally everything a white person does is “racist.”

The group has another main contention besides the faux charge of “racism.” In their view Breitbart News was one of the biggest reasons Donald Trump won the White House and, so, if they can destroy Breitbart by starving it of ad money, then they will be hurting both Trump and Republicans.

To date the actual identity of the people behind Sleeping Giants has not been made public but Shareen Pathak of DigiDay.com seems to know who they are and recently interviewed at least one of them.

The creator of Sleeping Giants told Mz Pathak, “The biggest way that this disinformation will continue is ad revenue, just like any news source. Beyond really wanting to stop this nonsense, this effort was really born out of the need to inform advertisers about the kind of material that they’re sponsoring. This isn’t supposed to be a boycotting effort as much as an information effort.”

Ultimately, DigiDay has assisted this group of fascist hatemongers to stay hidden in the shadows and to prevent any effort of free and open transparency on the left.

Of course, much of the left’s new boycott effort is in response to the decision made by the extremist left-wing Kellogg’s company to pull its advertising from Breitbart.com because, they claim, the site is raaaacist.

In response, Breitbart asked its own fans to cease buying Kellogg’s products.

Recently Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alexander Marlow released a statement to fans:

Breitbart News is the largest platform for pro-family content anywhere on the Internet. We are fearless advocates for traditional American values, perhaps most important among them is freedom of speech, or our motto ‘more voices, not less.’ For Kellogg’s, an American brand, to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice. They insult our incredibly diverse staff and spit in the face of our 45,000,000 highly engaged, highly perceptive, highly loyal readers, many of whom are Kellogg’s customers. Boycotting Breitbart News for presenting mainstream American ideas is an act of discrimination and intense prejudice. If you serve Kellogg’s products to your family, you are serving up bigotry at your breakfast table.

Kellogg’s itself has a very, very long history of donating to racist causes as well as ultra liberal causes such as liberal indoctrination of kids, anti-family, anti-Second Amendment, and pro-gay causes, efforts to spread the accusation of “white privilege,” and other such programs going back decades. Since its earliest days of social activism, the company has donated nearly a billion dollars to anti-American, far left-wing causes.

According to DoscoverTheNetworks.org, the list of groups and causes Kellogg’s has donated to is a virtual who’s who of liberalism.

To name just some of those causes and groups, DiscoverTheNetwork.org listed:

American Civil Liberties Union; Aspen Institute; Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN); Center on Budget and Policy Priorities; Center for Community Change; Children’s Defense Fund; Council on Foundations; Earth Island Institute; Environmental Defense Fund; Friends of the Earth; Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund; Ms. Foundation for Women; NAACP; National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy; National Council of La Raza; National Public Radio; Natural Resources Defense Council; Nature Conservancy; Rockefeller Family Fund; Save the Children Fund; State Voices; Tides Foundation and Tides Center; United Nations Foundation; United States Student Association; Urban Institute; Waterkeeper Alliance; World Resources Institute; and the World Wildlife Fund.

Whatever the results of Breitbart’s own boycott of Kellogg’s might be, the effort by Sleeping Giants is getting some results.

Thus far the list of companies joining the Twitter group’s boycott of Breitbart include, juice maker Welch’s, Novo Nordisk, insurance provider Allstate, eyeglass maker Warby Parker, San Diego Zoo, 3M, AARP, Earthlink, L’Occitane, Paperless Post, Saddleback Bags, and U.S. Bank, the digial ad firm AppNexus Inc., and others WND.com reports.

Naturally, an equally growing list of far left activist groups and individuals are aiding Sleeping Giants with this boycott effort.

WND also listed some of these groups. A portion of that list includes the following:

  • David Plouffe, political strategist and 2008 presidential campaign manager for President Obama
  • Dan Pfeiffer, former senior adviser for President Obama
  • Jon Favreau, Obama’s chief speechwriter
  • Jon Lovett, Obama speechwriter who worked three years at the White House drafting speeches on public policy
  • Michael Skolnik, official surrogate for President Obama during the 2012 re-election campaign
  • Tommy Vietor, Obama’s former national security spokesman
  • Sarah Silverman, an actress and comedian who spoke at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary Clinton
  • Nicholas Reville, founder of PCCulture.org, an organization that lists leftist billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Institute among its “major funders”
  • Shannon Coulter, a tech and media marketing specialist who boycotted the Ivanka Trump Collection fashion line and demanded that Macy’s, Nordstrom, Amazon, Lord & Taylor, Marshalls and Zappos stop selling Ivanka’s clothing
  • Rachel Maddow, TV host of MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show”
  • Michael Moore, leftist activist and filmmaker who backed the presidential campaigns of both Obama and Hillary…

WND goes on to list a large number of others also aiding the secretive Twitter group to urge advertisers to boycott Breitbart.

It is thus far unknown what effect the boycott is having on Breitbart, though. After all, the site is one of the biggest sites around and regularly gets some of the most traffic on the Internet. It has, for instance, already earned well over one billon pageviews for 2016.

But, if you would like to help Breitbart and make a counter effort to urge those targeted by Sleeping Giants and this cabal of anti-American leftists, feel free to go to the Sleeping Giants Twitter site, take note of the companies listed there, and contact each of the advertisers the leftists want to boycott Breitbart and tell them to you will boycott them unless they continue advertising on Breitbart.com.
