An eight-year-old Afghan girl has been apprehended trying to set off a terrorist’s suicide vest, put up to the task by Taliban terrorists, authorities in that country say.
The girl, reportedly named Spozhmay, was stopped by police in southern Helmand province.
Spozhmay now being held by Afghan authorities.
According to government spokesman Sediq Sediqi, an Afghan soldier spotted the girl wearing a suicide jacket and struggled with her to stop her from setting it off.
The incident occurred in a remote village called Uwshi, in the Charchino District, said Fazal Ahmad Shirzad, the police chief of Uruzguan Province.
The girl was been transferred to the provincial capital of Lashkar Gah.
Taliban forces began using children in July. It was learned that Taliban forces began to impress starving children into service by bribing them. Children have been ordered to plant bombs and act as suicide bombers.
The Taliban claims they don’t use children, of course, but like most of what these Islamists say, it is a lie.
The Taliban training children to act as “soldiers.”
An Afghan orphan named Neaz recently told his story how after he lost his parents in an attack, the Taliban began to convince him to join them. They also presented him with a suicide vest.
Neaz tells his story.
“They made me try it on. The grenades went all around my body and then they offered me the coins [50 Afghanis – about 60p],” he said. “They told me to blow myself up at a checkpoint. I asked what I’d do with the money if I had to blow myself up. But they kept encouraging me, telling me that if I did it I would go to heaven,” he said.
