FreeCapitalismNow.com Welcomes ‘2016’ Filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza to Chicago Sept. 22

“I am coming to help Chicagoans get the side of the story that has been hidden from them for the last four years.” — 2016: Obama’s America filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza

Filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza will be in Chicagofor a special screening and Q&A about his controversial box-office smash, “2016: Obama’s America.” The event is being hosted by FreeCapitalismNow.com at the Gene Siskel Film Center on September 22nd.

After traveling to exotic locales in Kenya,Indonesia, and Hawaii to uncover Barack Obama’s past, D’Souza finds it fitting to be visiting the President’s adopted hometown and political breeding ground.

“FreeCapitalismNow.com has invited me to come to Chicago for a special screening of my film, ‘2016: Obama’s America,’” D’Souza said. “Chicago may be the President’s adopted hometown but how many Chicagoans know the real Barack Obama? I am coming to help Chicagoans get the side of the story that has been hidden from them for the last four years.”

“Everyone – especially Chicagoans – need to see this film,” says William J. Kelly, Chairman of FreeCapitalismNow.com. “Love him or hate him, discovering Barack Obama’s influences is key to understanding where we are now as a country and where we might be heading. We should never be afraid to question or challenge our political leaders. That is what America is about.”

2016: Obama’s America has struck a chord. The film took in $3.2 million at the box office last weekend for a total of $26 million to become the second highest all-time political documentary, passing Michael Moore’s Sicko and Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

The film’s unexpected box-office success prompted the Obama campaign to issue a statement attacking the film last week as “an insidious attempt to dishonestly smear the president.”

“I welcome Obama’s critique of the film. He has probably figured out that he cannot ignore it any longer,” D’Souza said.

At the screening, Chicagoans will have an opportunity to ask D’Souza questions about the film and other aspects of the President’s past. The Q&A will be filmed for an episode of “America’s Instant Townhall,” which is hosted by Kelly, a producer of Emmy award-winning TV. The episode will broadcast before the election throughout the Midwest.

Kelly says that the violent attacks against American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt will be part of the discussion. The President’s economic worldview will be another.
