From Americans for Prosperity – Illinois…
Americans for Prosperity has learned that one of the most comprehensive workers compensation packages (SB 1349) is moving through the State Senate at an aggressive pace.
It’s essential that lawmakers reform the workers compensation system in Illinois. Illinois’ system of workers compensation is one the most generous systems in the nation. For this reason and more, the cost factors of the workers comp laws in Illinois place our businesses and our state at a great disadvantage with other states.

Our state must reduce costs on our businesses in order to lure new businesses as well as to provide opportunity for our current businesses to thrive, expand, and create new jobs.
As with any reform package, lawmakers must have a balanced approach to ensure all groups affected by reforms place something on the table to reduce the costs of the system. For the purpose of advancing sound Workers Comp legislation, this includes the trial lawyers, labor, and the medical professionals.
In a letter to the Governor, the CEO of Caterpillar said, “The direction that this state is headed in is not favorable to business.” In addition to this, recent discoveries at the Menard Correctional Center and the Workers Compensation Commission have made it clearer than ever that Illinois needs Workers Comp reform now!
