This Judge is a Threat to Illinois Jobs Illinois Needs More Jobs — Not a Judge Who is Hostile to Job Creators

Dear fellow Illinois citizens,

We’ve already emailed you about Illinois Supreme Court Justice Tom Kilbride’s record of being hostile to Illinois law enforcement.

But did you also know that he is a threat to local jobs?

That’s right — Justice Kilbride has consistently voted against Illinois employers.

In fact, in 21 cases about employers where there has been a split decision, Justice Kilbride voted against employers all 21 times.

That kind of record isn’t helpful in a district that already has been rocked by high unemployment.

Just take a look at these troubling unemployment numbers right within Justice Kilbride’s Third District Supreme Court:

  • The unemployment rate in Will County is 10.8%.
  • In Kankakee, the unemployment rate has skyrocketed since a year ago — up to 13.5% from 11.8% one year ago.
  • The unemployment rate for the five-county Peoria metropolitan area rose to 10.5 percent in July.
  • In La Salle County, unemployment surged to 13.3 percent in July 2010 — up from 11.8% a year ago.
  • In Bureau County, the jobless rate has increased to 11.2 percent.
  • In Grundy County, the unemployment rate rose to 12.9%.

This is the heart of Justice Kilbride’s Third District and, in each case, the unemployment rate is significantly higher than the national level.

Can we really afford to retain Justice Kilbride in the November election?

Right now, Illinois needs more jobs. The last thing we need is a judge who is hostile to Illinois job creators.

Sincerely,
