It’s hard to believe but the November elections are just five months away and we have a critical task ahead – restoring a conservative Republican majority to the House of Representatives. This feat that once appeared to be out of reach is now well within our grasp if we keep our momentum going strong.
A new poll last week found that Republicans have opened their widest lead yet when it comes to which party voters prefer this fall. Gallup’s generic congressional ballot finds that the number of voters who say they will vote Republican has jumped to 49 percent, compared with 43 percent for Democrats. That’s not only the biggest lead Gallup has recorded for the GOP this election cycle – it’s the largest lead Republicans have ever had in the poll since it began in 1950.
Clearly, your support is having an unprecedented effect. You have given generously of your time, energy, and financial resources, and I’m here to tell you – it’s working. Every time you share your conservative values with friends, volunteer in our office, walk in a parade, or make a contribution, we see results. Even forwarding this email to your friends makes a difference.
However, we’re still facing serious issues in Washington DC. President Obama continues to rack up a crushing national debt. Here is a startling statistic: it took 43 Presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush to accumulate $5 trillion in debt. The Obama Administration plans to double that in five years, and triple it in ten.
Unfortunately, we’ve seen what happens when a society decides to spend itself into the ground – Greece is a prime example. There’s no special circumstances or financial trick that will relieve Greece of the burden they’ve placed on themselves. The bills from years of liberal spending have finally come due. All the years of increasing the size and role of government has finally caught up and now there’s almost no way out.
Although America is not Greece, we are not immune from the burdens of extreme overspending. We cannot promise everything to everyone, while maintaining a strong military, providing top-quality schools, and meeting basic infrastructure needs.
Thankfully, people all over the country are realizing this – people like you and your neighbors. We have recognized that this out of control spending must stop and to do so, we must reclaim the House majority for Republicans in November.
