Well, another fixture of Star Trek — and my childhood — is gone from us. The woman that played Nurse Chapel, Troi’s Mother, Lwaxana, and the voice of the Star Trek Computer passed away from the effects of lukemia today. She was 76.
Here is where, being middle aged, mortality begins to strike you. All your favorite pop icons from childhood are passing, so are all your older relatives. Mortality at my age is just beginning to make itself known.
Majel joins in the great beyond Scotty (James Doohan), McCoy (Deforrest Kelly) and Spock’s Father (Mark Leonard) as well as several of the show’s lesser known characters.
