The Left’s Lying Liars Trying to Smear Michelle Bachmann’s Tea Party Response

-By Warner Todd Huston

The left’s latest unfair, false, and downright scurrilous attack on Michelle Bachmann focuses on her Tea Party response video aired after President Obama’s State of the Union speech last week. I am a bit late to this story, I realize, but I wanted to get it aired here regardless.

The left’s claim is that Michelle is too stupid to understand how TV works because she was not looking into the camera as she delivered her comments. Further, the left (and some uninformed conservatives, too) are saying that Bachmann is dividing the Republican Party by delivering the speech at all.

Both claims are flat out false.

CNN Finds NEW Way to Count Body Bags, Now in Afghanistan

-By Warner Todd Huston

We’ve taken notice that Iraq is suddenly out of the news now that things are consistently going so well for U.S. forces there. Well, since CNN can’t find much bad to talk about in Iraq they’ve finally found some “bad” news they can use as a needle to stick in the Bush Administration’s collective eye. In Coalition troop deaths in Afghanistan surpass Iraq, CNN has discovered that they can make a body bag contest out of casualties between Iraq and Afghanistan. Oh, joy!

For the second month in a row, U.S. and allied troop deaths in the Afghan war have surpassed those in Iraq, according to official figures tallied by CNN… In June, 46 foreign troops died in Afghanistan and 31 troops died in Iraq. In May, 23 foreign troops died in Afghanistan and 21 died in Iraq.

Stop the presses! And, did you notice that now they are adding foreign troops up because they can’t get enough American deaths to report? Can you remember the last time the American press was worried about the casualties among our foreign coalition?

It also doesn’t escape notice that the headline is a bit misleading. Read standing alone, one would think that the headline is saying more troops have now died in Afghanistan than have died in Iraq for the entire war. After all, the headline doesn’t restrict itself to just the two months in question! A lazy reader might tend to take away the wrong impression by this badly composed headline.

CNN: Obama Poll Advantage Over McCain ‘Enormous’ … in Europe

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN calls this serious news, apparently, but a recent report about a Pew Research poll of “more than 24,000 people in 24 countries” shows that foreigners favor Barack Obama over John McCain for president. Aside from the general “who cares” of it all, why is it news that people who wish the United States ill will would pick the candidate most friendly to their interests to become our president? Shouldn’t it be obvious that foreigners would want someone that would favor their views to become the next president of the U.S.? Who would expect a Frenchman or a Swede to pick someone that would least favor a foreigner’s point of view on international politics? After all, why would a foreigner want an American president that would strongly advocate for the United States when they themselves are not Americans? Naturally, they’d gravitate to the candidate that seems to represent what Europe wants and not the candidate that would strongly advocate for the U.S.A.

And on top of that, why the heck would an American care what a foreigner thinks about U.S. elections? Yet, in theirs headlined “Poll: Image of US will ‘change for the better’ with Obama,” here is CNN acting as if this is important and perhaps shocking news that Obama has an “enormous” polling advantage among foreigners.

(CNN)—Despite increasing economic concerns and an on-going war in Iraq, a new international poll finds a widespread belief in many countries that United States foreign policy “will change for the better” once a new administration is sworn into office, particularly if Sen. Barack Obama is elected president.

The international poll conducted by Pew Research of more than 24,000 people in 24 countries found people who have been following the U.S. elections feel more confident Obama “will do the right thing,” with regards to foreign relations than John McCain.

Golly, gee. And by “do the right thing” here we are talking about doing what is best for Europeans not what is best for Americans. After all, the poll question was not which will make a better U.S. president for the U.S. The question was which do they want as president. Since they weren’t asked to put themselves in the shoes of the US population, they certainly based their answers on their own self interest, not ours.

Hamas Says They’re For Obama, CNN Says ‘McCain Says Hamas Wants Obama’

-By Warner Todd Huston

In a head spinning effort to make McCain the bad guy of a story, CNN has taken the voiced support for Barack Obama by the terrorist organization Hamas and turned it into a finger pointing at Republican John McCain for being mean to Obama. Talk about spin, CNN has really done a doosie here. Taking the words of the terrorists in Hamas and placing them in McCain’s mouth is simply unbelievable. But that’s exactly what they’ve done.

CNN’s Political Ticker Blog showed us some gymnastics worthy of the Olympics — or more correctly a contortionist — to turn the words of a terrorist into those of John McCain in their ridiculously titled post, “McCain camp says Hamas wants Obama.”

John McCain’s campaign sent supporters a fundraising e-mail Friday that claims Hamas approves of Democrat Barack Obama’s foreign policy vision, and is hoping for his victory this fall.

Oh, CNN is all aghast over the nasty McCain camp. There’s high dudgeon galore.

CNN Fires Producer Over his Blogging

-By Warner Todd Huston

The New York Times is reporting that a CNN producer has been fired because he blogs for the Huffington Post, or so says now ex-producer Chez Pazienza in the Times’ City Room Section today. No real confirmation from CNN that Pazienza was fired for his blogging, but looking at his past work, it shouldn’t be too surprising that CNN would be embarrassed by the foul language, and extreme point of view that the fired producer displays there.

Paziena announced his firing on his blog, Deus Ex Malcontent.

Yesterday afternoon, I was fired from my job at CNN.

What was the reason for my abrupt and untimely dismissal? You’re reading it.

The Times reports that Paziena has been with CNN since 2004.

In a phone interview this morning, Mr. Pazienza, 38, said he joined CNN as a senior producer in January 2004 and has consistently received positive performance evaluations of his work. He spent his first year at CNN at the network’s headquarters in Atlanta, then moved to New York to work on “CNN Daybreak,” which has since been canceled, then “American Morning,” which is shown Monday through Friday, from 6 to 9 a.m.

Paziena’s blog, however, is a perfect example of the unhinged left and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that CNN was a bit uncomfortable that an extremist like him worked for them. His explanation of what his blog was about serves as a perfect example of his uncouth, uncivil style of writing.

“I wake up every morning baffled as to why America hasn’t thrown George Bush and Dick Cheney in prison, Hollywood hasn’t stopped trying to convince me that Sarah Jessica Parker is attractive, gullible soccer moms haven’t realized that they share absolutely no kinship with Oprah, and Fox canceled ‘Firefly,'”

But that seems mild compared to what Matthew Sheffield of Newsbusters found on Paziena’s personal blog.
