Truth in Accounting Issues: Wisconsin’s “Financial State of the State”

From the Institute for Truth in Accounting…

Chicago (November 29, 2010) Today, the Institute for Truth in Accounting released Wisconsin’s “Financial State of the State.” After an intensive review of the State’s 2009 audited financial report, the Institute determined the State is in a precarious financial position because it does not have the funds available to pay more than $14.4 billion of the State’s commitments as they come due. Each taxpayer’s share of this financial burden equals $7,400.

Wisconsin law requires a balanced State budget. “If governors and legislatures had truly balanced the State’s budget, no taxpayer’s financial burden would exist,” said Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of the Institute for Truth in Accounting (IFTA). She continued, “A State budget is not balanced if past costs, including those for employees’ retirement benefits, are pushed into the future.”

10/13 “Moneybomb” for Rev. Hayes For Congress (2nd District)

From the Midwest Regional College Republicans on behalf of Hayes for Congress…

This is the year for GOP pick-ups in [what were once] “safe” Democrat seats! In the last comparable year (1994), Chicago powerhouse Dan Rostenkowski was [shockingly!!] defeated for re-election, by his Republican opponent. [LA Times: GOP ‘David’ knocks off ‘Goliath’]

We now have another situation, in which a scandal plagued Democrat Congressman can be ousted.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. has a 72% UNFAVORABLE rating!

Leading pollster & analyst Dick Morris said that IL’s 2nd Congressional district is now in play due to the amazing effort of GOP nominee Rev. Isaac C. Hayes, and the sex and dirty money scandals of incumbent Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

Rev. Hayes needs your help to defeat this dirty pol — go to www.isaac4honesty.com to make a donation or volunteer now!!

Endorsed by the Tribune — Early Voting Just Days Away!‏

From the office of Commissioner Tony Peraica…

Today, I was humbled to receive the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune for re-election to the 16th District Commissioner seat. Calling me a “warrior for taxpayers” who is “relentless in questioning business as usual”, the Chicago Tribune writes:

The Tribune endorses Peraica because he’s been a reliable thorn to Democratic officials who think citizens exist primarily to pay taxes.

How fitting, then, that this endorsement comes on the same day I am introducing two taxpayer-protection initiatives to the Cook County Board.

Ill. Dem. Senate Candidate Raising $$ From Trial Lawyers in Canada

-By Warner Todd Huston

The Illinois Democrat candidate for Senate, Alexi Giannoulias, wasn’t too keen of admitting it but he was in Vancouver, Canada over the weekend at a fund-raiser at a trial lawyer’s convention. Along with a dozen other Democrats, the candidate was in Canada to rake in thousands in donations from trial lawyers who know what side of their bread is buttered, for sure.

Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet has all the details at her Scoop blog. But suffice to say that the Giannoulias campaign did not report the whereabouts of their candidate until the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a press release urging reporters to grill the Giannoulias campaign.

Can Tea Party Help 8th District Candidate?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Republican Joe Walsh won his party’s nomination for the Illinois 8th District Congressional seat this February. He’ll face Democrat incumbent Melissa Bean in November. But as of right this minute he’s broke.

Mr. Walsh is fond of calling himself the “tea party candidate,” but with his empty campaign coffers this is an excellent time to ask the question: can the tea party groups that endorsed him help him raise money?

-By Warner Todd Huston

Over the weekend the Federation of Illinois Young Republicans (FIYR) held its annual convention in Bolingbrook. There a straw poll of members was conducted and once again outsider candidate Adam Andrzejewski won. This is the third straw poll in a row that Andrzejewski has won.

On October 19, Andrzejewski won the McLean County Freedom Coalition Straw Poll in Bloomington and on Nov. 2 he won the Concerned Citizens of America straw poll held in Rockford. Andrzejewski also won the September straw poll held at the governor forum sponsored by the United Republican Fund.
