Her Soul Now Shines in That City on the Hill

-By Frank Salvato

It is with a heavy heart that we inform our readers that Ercille I. Christmas, a featured writer here at NewMediaJournal.us and a friend to all who embrace the idea of freedom, has passed away after a valiant battle with cancer.

Ercille I. Christmas was born in the tiny Caribbean island of St. Kitts, the “Gibraltar of the Caribbean”. She went through the procedures and processes needed to naturalize to the United States and became a US citizen, something that she viewed as an achievement; a designation she held with great pride, often referring to her new home as, “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

For a great portion of her adult life, Ercille performed the duties of a supervisor in the insurance industry. But her life changed on September 11, 2001.

Since that fateful day, Ercille devoted every minute of her day — in essence, devoting her entire life, to speaking and writing about the threats that Islamic terrorism and internal anti-American behavior pose to our country. This made Ercille a perfect fit for the mission held by BasicsProject.org and New Media Journal.us.

In her endeavors to education, inform and motivate, Ercille inked a book titled, Thoughts of a Proud American, the words of a kid from St. Kitt who evolved into an American patriot of the highest order.

In a 2008 article titled, The Shining City Upon A Hill Ercille wrote:

“America is still that ‘shining city upon a hill,’ not because of its monuments, tall buildings or other of its edifices to greatness. America is still ‘shining’ because of its people. It will always remain a ‘lighthouse of hope,’ where other nations can send ‘their tired, poor and, and huddled masses’…may [those seeking liberty and freedom] find that they are now free to follow the advice of John Adams: ‘Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.’ Let us all do so while we still can. May God continue to bless America!”

Ercille I. Christmas stood up to share her voice, her love of country and stood in defense of freedom in a time when our own government is seen as the greatest trespasser against it, doing so not because of some grand compensation foisted upon her from the elites who lurk in the shadows of the so-called establishment organizations, but because she knew honesty was a commodity in short supply. She gave of herself — in treasure, sweat and now in full measure — because she understood that if real Americans, those who sacrifice of themselves in order to share and declare, don’t stand together, shoulder-to-shoulder, as the keepers of the flame that makes the shining city on the hill shine, that light will be extinguished by the many creatures who seek personal fortune and power.

Our condolences are extended to Ercille’s family and close friends. She will be missed by all who love freedom; by all who love the United States of America. And her soul will continue to shine…in the shining city on the hill.
