Before it even debuts, the new Fox News show Outnumbered is being called a “stroke of evil genius.” It features four, count ’em, four, female hosts and only one, lonely male.
The four female hosts and one male host will mostly be rotating. Two of the females will be FOX Business Network’s Sandra Smith and FOX Report Weekend anchor Harris Faulkner. Other female hosts will be such Fox personalities as co-hosts of The Five, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Andrea Tantaros along with FNC contributors Jedediah Bila, Katie Pavlich and Kirsten Powers.
The male host will rotate, as well, varying each day, sometimes he will be as a notable figure in the national dialogue that week.
Like many of these panel shows, Outnumbered will tackle top news headlines from all angles and perspectives. Certainly the panelists will examine the top news of the hour but they will also deliberate over the leading pop culture and relationship issues dominating the headlines that day.
Amusingly, Alyssa Rosenberg of The Washington Post said that the show has “a flair of evil genius.”
She joked that Outnumbered turns one complaint about TV on its ear.
“In conception, Outnumbered is such an audacious act of trolling that I almost have to admire it. The setup is essentially a parody of what conservatives often accuse feminists of wanting to do to men: overwhelm them and shout them down as a sort of rhetorical reparations for years in a subordinate position.,” Rosenberg said.
Of course, seeing as how it is Fox News and not MSNBC, the show will not likely be filled with the hate and name calling that the WaPo’s Rosenberg seems to expect. But still, she expects the new Fox show to be “fabulously entertaining television.”
Tune in to see if the premier is as entertaining as expected. The show will debut on April 28 at 12PM Eastern Time.
In conjunction with the show’s debut, Happening Now, co-anchored by Jon Scott and Jenna Lee, will divide into two one-hour news blocks presented weekdays at 11AM/ET and 1PM/ET.
