[VIDEO] Proof Mitt Romney Lied About Repealing Obamacare

-By Warner Todd Huston

All during the 2012 election for President of the United States, Mitt Romney claimed he wanted to “repeal” Obamacare. But now, months after he lost his bid for the White House, Romney appeared on NBC and essentially admitted that he would have done no such thing and that his plan would have been indistinguishable from Obamacare.

One of Romney’s central stump claims as he ran for President, especially in the waning days of the campaign, was this: “If elected, I will repeal Obamacare on day one.”

But would he?

We finally got a proper answer to that campaign promise on November 3, 2013. The answer is a resounding “no.” Mitt Romney would not have done anything substantive to rid the nation of Obamacare.

When asked if he had won the election what he would have done about the nation’s healthcare conundrum, here is what Romney said on the Nov. 3 broadcast of NBC’s Meet The Press:

Transcript

David Gregory: How would you have dealt with Obamacare had you become president?

Mitt Romney: Well, I’m not president so I can’t be so clear-minded to tell you what I would have done, but my own plan was to say to each state ‘you’ve got a requirement to move to a point where all your people are insured and where you cover pre-existing conditions. We’re going to give you flexibility from the federal government level to help you be able to do so.”

Note that Mitt just said he would used the iron boot of the federal government to force every state to force all their citizens to buy health insurance (un-Constitutionally, I might add) and would have “required” them to cover pre-existing conditions, to boot.

So much for state’s rights and federalism like he pretended he cared about during the campaign.

So much for 50 state “laboratory of democracy” on healthcare like he often said he favored.

No, he would have initiated a top down, un-Constitutional, power grab, eliminating states rights and use federal law to force all Americans to buy a product.

Gee, sounds just like Obamacare, doesn’t it?

Folks, Mitt Romney was a liar. He was a liar since day one. He created Obamacare in Massachusetts and he would NOT have repealed it if he became president. He would have tinkered around the edges, certainly, but we would not have seen the end of Obamacare at Mitt Romney’s hands.

All you Republicans that voted for liberal Republican Mitt Romney, hero of the left-leaning Republican establishment, the one who “could win,” because you believed him when he said he would rid the nation of Obamacare were duped.

Doesn’t this just make you want to vote Republican again and again?
