Sen. Inhofe: MSNBC Conspiring With Obama White House, EPA, & Organizing for Action on Global Warming

-By Warner Todd Huston

Senator Jim Inhofe (R, OK) is looking into what he thinks my be the illegal collusion on a climate change campaign possibly involving Obama’s White House, his former campaign organization now dubbed Organizing for Action (OFA), and the left-wing cable network MSNBC.

On August 14 Inhofe sent letters to the Environmental Protection Agency and the White House Council on Environmental Quality asking for any information the agencies have on OFA’s effort to push Obama’s climate change policies, especially OFA’s effort to attack certain Republicans as “climate change deniers.”

Inhofe wants to know if the federal agencies are working with OFA’s campaign. If they are coordinating their efforts, it would be a violation of the law.

“According to the Hatch Act,” Inhofe’s press release notes, “federal employees in the executive branch, except certain designated officials such as the President or Vice President, are prohibited from engaging in political campaign activities.”

Inhofe goes on to say,

“Any inappropriate coordination being conducted among the White House, Members of Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and OFA is of grave concern. The OFA activities are clearly political in nature, solely targeting Republican members of the House and Senate for campaign purposes. This is alarming because on February 25 of this year, after reports surfaced that OFA was selling quarterly meetings with the President in exchange for $500,000 donations, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that OFA was an independent organization and would not be engaged in political activities. Clearly OFA is now engaging in political activities and it appears as though they are closely coordinating efforts with EPA and CEQ, negating their independence.”

Inhofe specifically cites the fact that OFA’s global warming campaign mysteriously coincides with similar events being held by the White House.

The Oklahoma Senator also noted that coverage of global warming ha sudden seen an uptick in the “liberal media.”

“I also find it quite interesting that to end this week of coincidental events on climate change alarmism, certain liberal media is showing a climate change special with reportedly no interviews from those challenging the theory,” Inhofe wrote. “There seems to be a coincidental coordination between the White House, the President’s campaign, and the liberal media that is weaving a false and potentially harmful narrative of alarmism.”

Inhofe didn’t cite MSNBC specifically, but the cable network recently had a special program hosted by left-wing host Chris Hayes on the topic of climate change, a show that Variety called “preaching to the choir.”
