Andy Andrews, the author of ‘How Do You Kill 11 Million People: Why the Truth Matters More Than You Think’ was a guest on the Mike Huckabee show recently. As expected Andrews was asked to explain the title of his book and to give a succinct summary of the answer to the question his title imposed.
Like many people Andrews spent years pondering the question of why and just how 11 million people would become so docile as to actually look complicit in the planning and execution of their own deaths. Why would so many line up to be hauled away by the Nazis in crowded boxcars, without putting up great resistance or a fight to save their own lives.
Andrews uses no deep philosophical construct to answer the question. He offers the simplest answer and under any level of reasonable scrutiny we suddenly know he has hit the nail squarely on the head. His answer in all of its glorious simplicity is, “They were lied to.”
They were told that they were going to work, be repatriated or sent back to their respective places of origin. They could not in their wildest imaginations believe that they were being herded to their own deaths.
If applied to the direction of America today and the upcoming presidential races; is it possible, reasonable or within the very scope of our wildest imagination to apply Andrew’s answer to the socio-political climate of our nation today? The answer to this question is also blaringly simple. The hands down, straight up answer is; an unequivocal – yes!
Many Americans who were born during or just after WWII have known for a lifetime that the Jews were lied to about their true destination. This generation is full of opinion and debate and history courses in today’s academia will hardly raise the question; much less come to the right answers. This takes nothing from Andrews’s conclusions but it is only half the story.
How the Jews were deceived only explains the mechanism by which they were rounded up by the millions, it does not explain why. Understanding the nature of how God deals with nations and his own peculiar people (Israel) offers the only legitimate explanation that satisfies both sound theology and any accurate historical context.
The entire calling of Israel, followed by the giving of the Mosaic Law and the temple system of worship, was predicated on the fact that God wanted Israel to show the Savior of mankind to the world. Their rejection of Jesus Christ was caused by their failure to see that prophecy did not promise them a political Messiah but a Redeemer. He will fulfill the role of the political or ruling Messiah only at his second coming.
The Jews could not reconcile this dualism, so some rabbinical schools actually concluded that there must be two Messiahs. Not only could they not see that Christ had to deal with sin and salvation first, but even if they could see that, they were not willing to wait for the vast church age between the first and second coming of Christ. They wanted political salvation now. In essence they wanted the familiar; ‘Change we can believe in.’
Needless to say, they missed not only the time of their visitation, but failed in the most primary purpose of their calling. What follows is of a prophetic nature and has little to do with politics and world events. They were driven into the nations by the power of the diaspora (prophesied dispersion) and received, exactly what was promised.
This is not the only passage to do with diaspora but it is typical. “And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse; in all places whither I shall drive them. And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.” (Jer 24: 9-10)
This is all past history, but prophecy that defines history even when it is not grasped by the most presciently minded of each generation, sees yet one more major event having to do with the Jews. That event began in 1948 (re-birth of Israel) and was marked by its second stage of fulfillment in 1967 (re-taking of Jerusalem) and has only one stage remaining. The Jewish Messiah, the Savior of the world, will return at the culmination of the world’s best efforts to destroy Israel. Lest I forget to mention it; the attempt to destroy Israel meets with complete failure.
These historical events answer why the Jews were apprehended by the Germans and goes way beyond the mechanism of lying that was engaged as a means of herding them with relative ease to meet their doom in the internment camps of the Third Reich.
Other events are ready to follow that are also empowered by prophetic declaration. Those events are split into many divisions, but the basis for them all is apostasy of the church and the development of one world government which produces two grand figures to lead the world to its final demise. The church like the Jews fails its primary calling by allowing the world’s views to take precedence over the gospel and the word of God.
Acts of apostasy fill the news daily, this week alone, one Pennsylvania denomination announced that they are allowing the LGBT to come into the church because it’s time to start accepting the gay agenda as part of Americana, mom’s apple pie and church polity.
It would be safe to say that, the denomination cozying up to the LGBT will not help to tip the elections because Barack Obama is the uncontested champion of the gay agenda. It is equally safe to say that the Pennsylvania church is not all there is to that vast body of believers including Protestants, Catholics, Pentecostal and non-denominational and traditional denominational believers.
Believers in America are 65 million strong, but the word strong cannot be easily qualified in this context. In fact the church can generally be divided into three categories. The newest division is the apostates and their numbers are growing daily. Youth are leaving the church at an alarming rate and social trends toward sex, and LGBT activism along with a new lax view of morals has cost the church.
Apostate Christians are not counted as part of the churches strength according to the scripture. The more socially acceptable the church becomes, the more theologically unhinged it becomes. The world sees these congregations as more socially friendly and acceptable, but God sees them as useless apostates and hypocrites. Not only will they not fare well in the impending judgment, but they are helping to precipitate and facilitate the judgment.
The smallest division of the church is the triumphant church, so named because of their faithfulness to the Savior and his word which includes the doctrine and inspired word of his Apostles. They are comprised of people from all walks of life, social standing, education and theological understanding. They are the very meek that Jesus declared will inherit the earth. They are also disregarded, scorned, rebuffed or generally ignored. There are a lot of reasons they are hated and dismissed but one of the chief reasons is that they are also eligible to vote.
It would be difficult to say just how many people make up the third and largest group of believers, but if current events and social trends are any indicator; they are by far the largest group of Christians in the nation. They are the slumbering church or the middle of the road crowd that either doesn’t care what is going on or, they simply don’t have a clue about what it means.
They are totally oblivious of the times they are living in and are unaware that their very nation is on the verge of its own extinction. How could they be aware, that the nation’s future could be changed by them, with little effort? The effort would require only that they get out of the recliner find out what is going on beyond American Idol and a clip or two from the daily news and save their own nation.
Among believers every conceivable excuse known to man is used to ignore the political scene. My vote doesn’t count for much, all politicians are corrupt, the candidates all look the same, and I don’t even know who is running. Out of such comes the confirmation for the much heard maxim first penned by Edmund Burke: “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.” Burke could have added that sometimes the so called “good men” are good for nothing.
It is apparent that at this late moment in the primaries that we are about to vote our wallet (Romney) at the expense of our conscience (Santorum.) It is also quite clear that there are still enough lies being told to those waiting down at the rail yards to fill entire boxcars with people who still think Barack Obama is not lying about his complete and dismal failure as a president.
In fact with seven months to go until November of 2012 what can we expect to hear in defense of Obama’s failed presidency? If his assessment and the subsequent remarks leveled at the Ryan budget plan is any example it is clear that we will hear months of hyperbole, exaggeration, distortions and just plain – lies.
If the country goes because we are sleeping, then the world is only a few steps behind. Andy Andrews hit the nail on the head about lies, but it is another author that should add his two cents worth to Andrews’s conclusions. Philosopher, essayist and poet George Santayana, is credited for this saying and we can be sure he meant to include the lies that each generation has decided to believe.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
The learned Apostle Paul warned the young church of Thessalonica that in the last days, the love of the truth would die first and that would open the doors for deep and pervasive lies to capture the minds of an entire generation, thus readying them to accept of the Devil in the flesh (antichrist) and in short notice the return of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who would raise the dead, judge the living and set up an eternal kingdom that would never cease to be. Consider this:
“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Th 2: 8-12)
The church has seven months to wake up. Need help deciding what candidate is best for the nation? There are dozens of great comparison and information sites to help and there will be no grading on the curve. We tried ‘change’ in 2008 now we are up for a ‘save’ that we had better start believing in while there is still time, but that will require a little less yawning and slumber for the 65 million Americans who are un-afraid to be identified as Christians.
