The political hack that Obama sent to be our ambassador to the United Kingdom has shown himself to be just that, a useless, inexpert, political hack. This hack didn’t bother to attend a large dinner given to celebrate the life and work of an American president, embarrassing Americans and British alike.
Last weekend, to celebrate the special relationship that was built between the U.S. and the Brits, a wonderful statue of Ronald Reagan was unveiled in Grosvenor Square, London. Later that night a dinner was held to top off the celebration of the unveiling.
As it happens Ambassador Susman skipped the dinner celebration causing tongues to wag on both sides of the Atlantic.
There has always been a big problem with American foreign policy where it concerns our diplomats. All too often they are merely political hacks or large donors to a president’s campaign. They don’t often have any expertise about the nation to which they’ve been sent and sometimes they aren’t even interested in the policies they are supposed to advocate.
Then there are those that go native and end up advocating for the foreign country instead of our own!
Interestingly, in this very case, the appointment of Louis B. Susman as U.S. Ambassador to the U.K. was criticized even when Obama made it because Obama promised that he’d be appointing people with some expertise in diplomacy.
Susman, however, had no knowledge of England, no diplomatic experience, and no history of having followed foreign policy even as a hobby. Susman was little else but an Obama donations bundler. That’s right, all he did was find a bunch of cash for Obama’s campaign coffers.
Now, the Ambassador did attend the unveiling of the statue, at least. But skipping the dinner was definitely a faux pas.
But let’s realize why he likely did it. Susman is a hardcore, Obama Democrat. People like him despise Ronald Reagan. What else do we need to know?
