Each year, thousands of Illinoisans bid goodbye to their families, friends and loved ones to deploy all over the world and defend our country.
These are the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.
But what about their families? What about the husbands, wives and children who are left behind?
The sacrifices of these family members cannot be forgotten. These military families give so much for our nation’s safety and security — but who’s there to ensure they receive the assistance they are owed from a grateful nation?
That’s why the work of Operation Homefront of Illinois (OH-IL) is so important. OH-IL is a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance and administers morale programs for military families with a spouse deployed in service to our country.
During the past month or so, I’ve shared with you a few emails about the mission and important work of OH-IL. Today, I ask that you watch our brief video that very simply explains our important work, so that you can fully understand how we are impacting military families right in your community.
Now, more than ever, the work of OH-IL is so vital. Just as we cannot forget the sacrifice of those deployed to defend our freedom — we cannot forget the sacrifice of those family members they leave behind.
