Pay Disparity in Illinois‏

From the Illinois Policy Institute…

Illinois is in rough shape. Out of all of the states, Illinois is:

  • 48th in economic performance
  • 47th in economic outlook
  • 48th in domestic migration
  • 48th in job growth

With those poor results it’s curious to note that our state has the:

  • 2nd highest Governor’s salary
  • 2nd highest Secretary of State’s salary
  • 3rd highest Attorney General’s salary
  • 5th highest Lieutenant Governor’s salary

Our 17th report in the “Spotlight on Spending” series highlights the alarming disparity between nationwide averages and the salaries and pay levels for our statewide elected officials.

This is a great opportunity to write a letter to your local newspapers. Click here for hints on how to write an effective letter to the editor.

Adopt-A-Legislator Program: Get a Head Start

If you’re concerned about the future of Illinois and would like to do more than just vote once every two years, you may be interested in joining the Illinois Policy Institute‘s Adopt-A-Legislator program.

The purpose of the program is to continually impress upon our state legislators the Illinois Policy Institute’s liberty-based free-market solutions to the problems facing our state.

The goal is to have all 59 Senators and 118 Representatives “adopted” by in-district constituents.

While we won’t be revealing the full program to the public until next month, we are giving Liberty Leaders the opportunity to sign up for the program ahead of time.

If you are interested in the Adopt-A-Legislator program as an individual or as a group, please contact me at bcostin@illinoispolicy.org or call at 312-346-5700 x205.
