Governor Quinn Says There’s a Tax for That‏

From Adam Andrzejewski and For the Good of Illinois…

One week ago today, I had the honor of speaking at five tea parties throughout Illinois. Their message – government is out of control, spending has reached unsustainable levels and we’re Taxed Enough Already.

Apparently, Governor Quinn didn’t get the message.

In addition to his proposed 33% tax hike, Governor Quinn now wants to tax your iPod. Well not exactly, but he is proposing a tax on music and movie downloads.

Citizens throughout the state have a better idea for Governor Quinn. CUT SPENDING!

What is the best way to cut spending?

Conduct a forensic audit to identify and eliminate waste, fraud and corruption.

Over 5,000 individuals have joined the fight to Open the Books in Springfield. Republican Leader Tom Cross and 26 Republican co-sponsors are leading. Good news: HR 1057 now has 28 sponsors in the Illinois House, including Rep. Jack Franks (D) and Rep Keith Farnham (D). And, the Illinois Senate just introduced SR0763– with Sen Kyle McCarter (R) as lead sponsor and Leader Radogno, Bill Brady, Matt Murphy and Dan Duffy as Chief Co-sponsors!

Let’s turn up the heat!

We’re asking citizens throughout the state to pick up the phone and demand that Speaker Madigan Open the Books.

Madigan’s office number: (773) 581-8000

Madigan’s Springfield office number: (217) 782-5350

Our goal is simple. Light up the phones. Shut down the phone lines. And, turn up the heat on Speaker Madigan. The future of our state depends on resolving these issues. If there was ever a time to get involved and make a difference, that time has come.

And if you haven’t done so, please sign our online petition supporting HR1057.

Thanks for joining our movement and working toward a new day in Illinois. Because of you, we’re going to win this.
