From the Walsh for Congress campaign (8th District)…
This week, Investor’s Business Daily asked, “Are Republican leaders getting rubbery-legged about repealing the massive new multitrillion-dollar entitlement program the president and Congress just passed into law?”
Certainly, many are not including Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) who has already introduced legislation to repeal Obamacare.
Nevertheless, 8th district GOP congressional nominee Joe Walsh is less interested in the day-to-day rhetorical positioning of party leaders and totally focused on the policy implications for 8th district families.
Walsh addressed the need to “repeal, reform and replace” legislation providing for the federal takeover of health care this week with ABC-7 News Political Reporter Charles Thomas:
Walsh went on to add, “For the last six years, Rep. Melissa Bean has put the political interests of her party ahead of the economic interests of her district, I won’t make the same mistake. I believe we must fight to undo what has been done because the failure to do so will have devastating impacts on the families I am running for Congress to serve.”
Devastating impacts, indeed.
Investor’s Business Daily reports,
The AAPS (American Association of Physicians and Surgeons) executive director, Dr. Jane Orient, warned of ‘a dire shortage of physicians’ if ObamaCare is not overturned in the courts and called the law a ‘massive intrusion into the practice of medicine and the rights of patients’ that ‘spells the end of freedom in medicine as we know it.’
On the jobs front, the implications are similarly grim. Major Illinois employers like Caterpillar, John Deere, Boeing, and Illinois Tool Works all expect to take a financial hit from the Obamacare legislation in the tens of millions of dollars. When the government raises the cost of doing business, employers are likely to look to reduce their labor costs. That means more layoffs and higher unemployment.
The impact will also be felt by “regular Joes” in the 8th district when it comes to their household budgets. According to Americans for Tax Reform, there are at least 19 new tax increases on the American people contained in the Obamacare legislation.
Joe Walsh is ready to take on this challenge and take up this fight for “regular Joes” in the 8th district because he understands we cannot afford Obamacare and we cannot afford Melissa Bean in Congress.
Joe Walsh is the Republican candidate running against Democrat incumbent Melissa Bean in 2010 for the Illinois 8th Congressional District. Born and raised in North Barrington, a policy advocate, teacher, and business entrepreneur, Joe has spent his adult life advancing limited-government and conservative principles.
