I’ll be poking in to show that Illinois loves their politics crooked and live blogging the poor, poor turnout in the 2010 primary.
(The newest post will appear on the top for ease of viewing.)
Won’t you click…
9:00 PM 2/3/10:, Well, here is, it seems, what the final results will be for the races we were watching here:
Governor
Bill Brady
Lt. Governor
Jason Plummer
Senate
Mark Kirk
Comptroller
Judy Baar Topinka
Cook County Board President
Roger Keats
5th Congressional District
David Ratowitz
8th Congressional District
Joe Walsh
10th Congressional District
Robert Dold
11th Congressional District
Adam Kinzinger
14th Congressional District
Randy Hultgren
Thanks to all of you that continued to return as we watched this interesting and raucous primary. Stay with us in the months to come as the next phase begins and these candidates begin their campaigns to vie for general election.
7:50 PM 2/3/10:, Dillard seems to have missed it by that much. The final count (that is until we find out if Dillard is going to demand a recount or not) is…
GOP Governor
Bill Brady: 155,263 votes
Kirk Dillard: 154,857 votes
It’s Brady by 406 votes.
5:20 PM 2/3/10: The counting continues. Here is where we are with 4438 of 4510 Cook County Precincts counted:
GOP Governor
Bill Brady: 155,210 votes
Kirk Dillard: 154,701 votes
Brady only leads by some 500 votes at this point.
1:00 PM 2/3/10:, Brady only leads by about 700 votes. Dems: Hynes is down over 7,000. Quinn is certainly the winner.
GOP Governor
Bill Brady: 155,091 votes
Kirk Dillard: 154,340 votes
11:45 AM 2/3/10:, word is some Cook precincts are now recounting ballots.
11:30 AM Wednesday Morning: Like I said, Dillard is still gaining and all of Cook County still not counted…
Governor GOP
Bill Brady- 154,646 votes
Kirk Dillard- 155,091 votes
A 445 vote difference!!!
Governor Democrats
Pat Quinn- 451,863 votes
Dan Hynes- 444,776votes
A 7,087 vote difference.
2:37 PM: well the AP is no longer updating its election returns site. So, I guess they’ve gone to sleep.
2:07 PM: more to come…
Governor GOP
Bill Brady- 154,646 votes
Kirk Dillard- 154,143 votes
Governor Democrats
Pat Quinn- 451,702 votes
Dan Hynes- 444,500 votes
Cook precincts counted at 4414 of 4510. Still more Cook votes to count.
1:37 PM:, Cook precincts counted at 4393 of 4510… this is Dillard country, folks.
1:30 PM:, I thought the Brady/Dillard race would tighten. Here’s the latest.
Governor GOP
Bill Brady- 154,622 votes
Kirk Dillard- 154,076 votes
Governor Democrats
Pat Quinn- 449,973 votes
Dan Hynes- 443,164 votes
1:05 PM: Here we go… only 1,500 votes separating Dillard and Brady (with Brady in the lead)…
Governor GOP
Bill Brady- 153,984 votes
Kirk Dillard- 152,505 votes
Governor Democrats
Pat Quinn- 443,993 votes
Dan Hynes- 438,232 votes
Lt. Gov
I’m calling Jason Plummer the winner
Still only 4367 of 4510 Cook County precincts in. Dillard might still pull a squeaker.
12:55 PM: OK, I’m back and at home safe and sound. Here’s where we are thus far on the last three squeakers.
Governor GOP
Bill Brady- 153,983 votes
Kirk Dillard- 152,499 votes
Governor Democrats
Pat Quinn- 442,675 votes
Dan Hynes- 437,284 votes
Lt. Gov
Jason Plummer- 234,321 votes
Matt Murphy- 227,289 votes
Well, I am have to hit the road to get home so there will be about a 45 minute break in blogging here.
11:48 PM: The last 2 tight races on GOP side:
Governor
Bill Brady- 21% 154,225 votes
Kirk Dillard- 20% 152,510 votes
Lt. Gov
Jason Plummer- 34% 233,397 votes
Matt Murphy- 33% 226,425 votes
11:30 PM: It’s starting to look like the uncounted sectors of Cook County won’t be enough for Dillard to overtake Bill Brady. Looks like Quinn will take the Democrat Gov. side.
11:10 PM: Interesting thing to note, old political family names on the Dem side (Stroger and a few others) are losing. Also GOP establishment candidates are losing in Congressional Districts.
11:10 PM: Thus far:
Governor
Adam Andrzejewski- 15%
Bill Brady- 21%
Kirk Dillard- 20%
Andy McKenna- 19%
Dan Proft- 8%
Jim Ryan- 17%
Lt. Gov
Brad Cole- 9%
Dennis Cook- 8%
Matt Murphy- 33%
Jason Plummer- 34%
Don Tracy- 11%
Randy White- 5%
11:10 PM: only 4245 of 4510 Cook County Precincts counted. Cook is likely Dillard country!
11:00 PM:Cook County still has a lot of precincts not yet reported. That is likely to cause Dillard to surge in GOP and Quinn in the Dem Gov. primary.
10:57 PM: Idiot, un-American creep, Democrat (but I repeat myself) State Rep Jack Franks Calls Republicans “teabaggers” on WLS radio. Also says he’d rather not see Democrats run against Dillard for Gov. in Nov. Would rather run against Brady. Democrats think Dillard would be harder to beat.
10:57 PM: This is still a surprising race for GOP Gov. Now Brady is ahead by some 230 votes or so!
10:50 PM: It is interesting that the Party establishment folks are losing all over. Coulson lost in the 10th, Rodgriquez lost in the 8th, Andy McKenna lost Gov., Matt Murphy looks to be losing Lt. Gov. Very interesting.
10:50 PM: Still a big fight between Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard, but I think Brady’s surge is spent. My guess is that Dillard barely pulls it out.
10:27 PM: Thus far…
Governor
Adam Andrzejewski- 15%
Bill Brady- 20%
Kirk Dillard- 20%
Andy McKenna- 19%

8:45 PM: Everyone on radio keeps calling Adam Andrzejewski, Andy!
8:40 PM: Illinois 14 sees Hultgren pulling ahead of Hastert a little bit! Yeaaaa!
8:30 PM: Looks like the ones with the most name recognition is winning. TV commercials seem to have made a difference.
8:20 PM: Just heard on the radio that they are estimating that Chicago is having 21% turnout for this election. Horrible. Will check the results again at 9:00 PM.
8:16 PM: 48% of the vote counted in Chicago.

8:00 PM: All my numbers will be taken from the Associated Press, by the way. I am also not going to report much about the Democrat’s primary numbers.
7:45 PM: So far it looks like the lowest turnout ever. I’d say that with the primary THIS darn early it fits the crooked party pols to a “T.” After all, a low turnout suits the party machines perfectly because they can get their votes out and won’t have to worry about being opposed.
