Cao Responds to Kelly Accusations of Links to Topinka/Paid Blogger Claim

-By Warner Todd Huston

There’s been a swirl of charges and counter charges with some of the operatives of several different campaigns here that we’ve only had a few posts about — mostly because I think these charges are tangential to the actual issues. It basically concerns charges made by the William Kelly for Comptroller campaign that operatives of the Dodge campaign are actually working for Topinka in a sort of typical Chicago dirty tricks campaign effort. These charges have been returned by the Dodge folks that it is in reality Kelly who is the false front candidate.

On Jan. 25 I posted D2s Prove Jim Dodge Dirty Tricks in IL Comptroller Race written by Tom Mannis of Chicago News Bench because it was a pretty good summation of the charges from his camp (he’s a Kelly man). Right after that 62nd District candidate Paul Mitchel responded to the claims. I posted that address the very same day.

Lynn has also responded to the Kelly camp’s claims (she’s a Dodge supporter) on her blog, Cao’s Blog and I think her voice should also be heard here. Among other things, she disputes that she makes money from Jack Roeser and that she’s a “paid blogger.”

Here are her main points, but you should go over and read her full post at Cao’s Blog:

  • The only part about being a paid blogger is (read another of the unhinged diatribes from the Kelly campaign here)..I didn’t know it, my bank account didn’t know it…and Roeser doesn’t ever remember me when I see him.
  • The Kelly connection to Martin Janis through the Topinka puppet Laura Grock is not only spelled out in the shockingly low amount of money reported in his D2 filing paid to Janis and the fulltime efforts Grock worked to pimp both his business and his campaign (sometimes simultaneously), but became even more glaringly obvious when Laura responded “no comment” when asked about it.
  • Mitchell received money from Republican Renaissance PAC. Republican Reinaissance PAC goes by rules…. Renaissance PAC only gives money to political candidates who have a chance of beating their opponents…
  • Nobody has gone after Kelly’s deceased father…it is Kelly that we’re interested in, and why he is a trust fund kid who has never had a responsible moment in his adult life who somehow expects voters to give him the Comptroller job in Springfield for the entire State.

Lynn also notes that Kelly’s attacks on Jack Roeser are nothing short of amazing seeing as how many times Mr. Roeser has come to Kelly’s aid in the past. Cao notes the following:

  • Jack Roeser gave him money to bail him out after he heckled Clinton
  • Jack Roeser arranged for a lawyer to expsponge his record after the incident
  • Jack Roeser gave Kelly money to start a radio program on WIND
  • Jack Roeser gave Kelly money to bail out his business right before he announced his bid for Comptroller

So, there you have it. Charges made, charges responded to.

Now, let’s get our voters to the polls.
