Palatine, IL – Challenger Tom Morrison received an overwhelming endorsement of the Palatine Township Republicans for state representative of the 54th district against incumbent Suzie Bassi in the upcoming Republican primary on February 2nd.
Palatine Township Republican precinct captains overwhelmingly endorsed Morrison. More than 85% of the precinct captains supported Morrison against 11 year incumbent Suzie Bassi.
“I am honored to receive such a strong endorsement from the Republican Township precinct captains,” Morrison said. “This is further testimony from our party leaders of the urgent need to correct the enormous problems facing our state. I am heartened by this support and will continue with my efforts to run a spirited, door-to-door campaign for the Republican primary election on February 2nd.”
Speaking today, to the Palatine Republican organization, Morrison criticized Rep. Bassi for falsely portraying her actions on senior free rides during last month’s meeting. “At our last breakfast meeting Suzie Bassi repeatedly told you she voted against senior free rides. The problem is she never voted on that bill in the first place… She only received a 15% rating by the National Taxpayers United of Illinois in 2008 because she missed so many important tax votes.” Morrison continued, “Bassi asked for your support because we need a strong Republican voice in Springfield. We do need a strong Republican voice, a strong independent Republican voice to break the mold and lead by example… and after 11 years I don’t think that Bassi will finally become that leader if elected to a 7th term.”
Tom Morrison is a businessman and independent Republican who is unwilling to accept the status quo. “We need new Republican leadership to take the fight to Springfield… An independent conservative to lead by example. That’s why I’m running.”
The 54th district, with a population of more than 105,000 people, includes portions of Palatine, Barrington, Inverness, Hoffman Estates and Rolling Meadows.
