The Putback Amendment, Putting Voters Back in Charge

Momentum is building across the State of Illinois for the Putback Amendment. We have volunteers in every corner of the state gathering signatures and just completed a big week of events all across the state. Together we CAN bring reform to Illinois. We all know Springfield will give us more of the same, together we can change the way business is done!

Our biggest needs are volunteers getting signatures and donations. Please consider getting signatures for the amendment before the holidays in your own neighborhoods.

Volunteers Needed in Chicago for Nov 14, 21, and 22!

There are several big events and rallies in Chicago the next two weekends and we need volunteers with petitions to gather signatures there. Some of the events are partisan in nature, but the Magnificent Mile Light Festival is a non-partisan event attended by many in Chicago and the surrounding area. If you have a few hours to spare, please contact John Bambenek at jcb@putbackamendment.com.

There are also events in Springfield and Decatur, if you are in those areas.

If you know friends, family or coworkers that are fed up with state government, have them sign up as volunteers. 500,000 signatures is a huge number, but together we can reach it!

Over 33,000 Petitions Downloaded Online!

As of this writing, 33,300 or so petitions have been downloaded off the Putback Amendment website. This does not take into account people who have gotten paper copies of the petition at events, or those who have made copies. The response has been incredible!

If each one of those downloads only ends up sending in one sheet of 15 signatures, we will have reached our goal of 500,000 signatures with ease!

In order for the amendment to be listed on the November 2010 ballot, 500,000 signatures need to be filed by May 2nd, 2010 with the State Board of Elections. This means all signatures need to be back into us by April 1st, 2010 to allow for ample time to review the signatures and assemble the package in compliance with less-than-user-friendly state law.

Ideally, we would like to have everyone send in their finished petitions now so we can tabulate pre-holidays and use it in our fundraising efforts. Thank you for all your hard work!

Petitions can be mailed to John Bambenek, 715 Erin Drive, Champaign, IL 61822.

The Putback Amendment is a non-partisan effort to reform Springfield for everyone and bring greater accountability and transparency to the state legislature. Help us bring REAL reform to Springfield, donate $100, $50, or $25 today!

Sincerely,

John Bambenek
