Illinois is a bankrupt state, yet our accidental Governor Pat Quinn is handing over millions of state dollars to ACORN/SEIU and any other union that wants to put its hand out. Join me and Americans For Prosperity to Say NO to ACORN.com.
Take the first step today. Please visit our website often, share with friends and join our effort to put the heat on state leaders and urge them to launch a real investigation into ACORN and its affiliates. It’s time to end the culture of corruption in Illinois.

Americans For Prosperity, Illinois – Fighting for Open Government
Americans for Prosperity, Illinois has been a leading advocate for open government in the great state of Illinois since its founding in 2003. We are committed to educating the citizens of Illinois about economic policy and the proper limits of government’s role in our lives. We stand for liberty and the rights of each of us to succeed on his own merits, of course, but we also strive to remind government that, as Daniel Webster once said, “liberty exists in proportion to wholesome restraint.” It is our mission to hold government accountable and to impose that “wholesome restraint” upon it.

AFP has been heavily involved in many efforts to implement government transparency in illinois. Our most recent victory has been the passage of H.B. 35, the Central Management Services Accountability Portal. H.B. 35 is a law that will require the Central Management Services department to establish and maintain a website known as the “Illinois Accountability Portal.” This website will “provide direct access to information concerning State employees and individual consultants, State expenditures, State tax credits, State contracts, and revocations and suspensions of occupation and use tax certificates of registration and professional licenses.”
Along with its partner, Judicial Watch, AFP discovered that our voices do make a difference by working hard to see that H.B. 35 was passed. By filing multiple Freedom of Information Requests and a resulting open records lawsuit, AFP helped lead the way for greater transparency in government expenditures in Illinois.

AFP stands for cutting taxes and government spending, tax and expenditure limitations on government, expansion of small businesses, as well as cleaning up our judicial system. We also support the right to work for all of Illinois. One of our most important goals is to educate each and every citizen about the high costs that government imposes on each of us and how we can, as informed voters, make government more efficient and cost effective at the same time we hold it within its legal and moral limits.
AFP was founded in 2003 and rose from Citizens for a Sound Economy Foundation when that organization separated from the group Citizens for a Sound Economy. We are a 501(c)(3) organization funded in part by donations from you, the citizen of the state. Donations are tax deductible.
“Liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals.” –Samuel Adams
AFP Illinois director Joe Calomino was recently featured in a Fox News report on the all too cozy relationship between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and former Governor Rod Blagojevich in what appears to be a pay-to-play scheme that netted the union 70,000 state workers as new members — and the tens of thousands of dollars in dues that goes with that — and the union’s subsequent $1.5 million in campaign donations to the governor’s coffers.
So, please join us in our fight to improve our government and hold it accountable to you, the voters of Illinois.
