Ohio: Absentee Ballots With Errors To be Sent Back to Voters

-By Warner Todd Huston

Ohio Sec. of State Jennifer Brunner has ruled that any absentee ballots with errors sent in from Franklin County will cause the voter to be notified after election-day. An estimated 5,000 Franklin County residents who cast ballots with errors will be effected.

Last night, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner issued a directive ordering counties to notify Ohioans who forgot to sign the envelope, used the wrong number from their driver’s license or made other simple mistakes and give them a chance to correct the defects by Nov. 14.

Franklin County was one County that had stopped processing ballots with errors.

Matthew Damschroder, deputy director of the county elections board, said the board would begin mailing out notices starting tomorrow to an estimated 5,000 voters who had problems with their absentee-ballot envelopes.

Apparently different Counties in Ohio handle this situation differently, which is not very uniform.
