Representative John Boehner (R., 8th Dist., Ohio) is calling for U.S. prosecutors to monitor polls in Ohio on Tuesday. Boehner has been increasingly worried over vote fraud and has tried several ways to assure the election in Ohio is legal and fair.
He has been met with resistance in the Attorney General’s office, however. AG Michael Mukasey has refused to involve his department in any vote fraud issues in Ohio. Boehner blames this reticence on Obama partisans that work in the AG’s office.
That hasn’t happen so far, he said, because “Obama partisans in key positions in the department” have decided against it. Even though Mukasey and others who run the department and sign off on all important decisions are part of the Bush administration, Boehner said yesterday that the agency has been infiltrated by supporters of Democrat Barack Obama. “Several (department) officials with important responsibilities for overseeing enforcement of the nation’s voting rights laws — from access to the polls to protecting against voter fraud — are significant financial contributors to the Obama presidential campaign,” said the West Chester, Ohio, congressman said.
Boehner told reporters that he is alarmed that Mukasey does not seem to be interested in assuring the legality of Oho’s elections, “particularly in the wake of a steady stream of reports highlighting voter registration fraud and potential fraudulent voting activities that have dominated the news in recent weeks.”
Naturally, partisan Ohio Sec of State Jennifer Brunner is claiming that everything is going well and that things are under control.
We will continue to monitor and report.
