Far and away, most Americans are Christians. One would think that a retailer that wants to succeed would “play the numbers” and appeal to the largest group. Moreover, many adherents to non-Christian religions report that they are not offended in the least by Christmas nor its trimmings. For that matter, many non-Christians engage in and celebrate Christmas in a commercialized, secular sense. It seems to me that from a business standpoint, and statistically speaking, any retailer that chooses to market in a secular fashion is either stupid or anti-Christian. I actually take Lowe’s at their word in this case – it was a stupid mistake – and you can bet they won’t repeat it.
I always thought family trees were those projects in elementary school where put the names of our parents, grandparents, etc … onto the branches we had drawn. Hmmm …
